About Precise Vision Ophthalmologists – Ophthalmology Outpatient Clinic Greven

The ophthalmology outpatient clinic Greven is a site of the Precise Vision Ophthalmologists clinic network, which Dr Florian Kretz (FEBO) founded with his wife, Nicole Kretz, under the principle "Your vision is close to my heart."

Under the medical direction of Elisabeth Bari-Kacik, patients can rely on the four pillars of the Precise Vision Ophthalmologists' corporate philosophy - excellent quality, proven experience, innovative technology, and individual care.

Ophthalmology Outpatient Clinic Greven – Personal Care and a High Level of Expertise

The ophthalmologists at the clinic in Greven work at the highest medical level and combine ophthalmological experience with new technologies and innovations. The most state-of-the-art equipment and therapy methods are offered in the ophthalmology outpatient clinic. Special attention is paid to patient-oriented medicine. Involvement in therapy decisions and discussion of treatment procedures are practiced here to a remarkable degree. The Precise Vision Ophthalmologists stand for a personal consultation, adapting the therapy to the individual wishes of the patient and a high medical standard.

Eyesight Without Glasses - Correcting Ametropia

Blurred or distorted vision is a characteristic of many defective visions, which require wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses. Refractive surgery enables the correction of visual defects such as nearsightedness and farsightedness (myopia and hyperopia), astigmatism (astigmatism of the cornea), and presbyopia. Under local anesthesia, the cornea, which refracts and focuses the incident light in the eye, can have its structure altered by a laser.

The refractive strength is thereby adjusted, and the eye can generally see again under optimal conditions. Among others, the SMILE procedure or Femto-LASIK are offered. It is also possible to replace or implant artificial lenses to change the eye's vision and compensate for visual defects. The Precise Vision Ophthalmologists attach great importance to comprehensive preliminary examinations to detect individual characteristics or underlying diseases.

Cataract Surgery with the Use of the Most Modern Laser Technology

The cause of the so-called cataract is the clouding of the eye's lens, which makes vision blurry. Surgical treatment of the disease is one of the most frequently performed procedures worldwide. Eye surgery can be performed in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia. Precise Vision Ophthalmologists specialize, among others, in cataract surgery and offer a variety of methods.

The diseased cloudy lens can be opened, fragmented, and then removed with the help of a femtosecond laser, after which a new artificial lens is placed. Another variant is the so-called micropulse procedure. Both techniques are established, modern, and safe. After removing the endogenous lens, a new artificial intraocular lens is implanted. Which type of lens is most likely to be suitable is decided individually beforehand.

Help with Glaucoma

In glaucoma, damage occurs to the optic nerve, causing an increasing limitation in the patient's field of vision. A frequent but not inevitable cause of this is increased intraocular pressure. As a result, patients with glaucoma often suffer from visual field loss, they see dark spots, and their eyes may be painful and red.

The intraocular pressure and the visual field can be examined in the eye clinic, and disease can be diagnosed. Often, treatment with eye drops is sufficient; however, modern surgical methods such as selective laser trabeculoplasty, trabeculectomy, or implantation of a trabecular stent are also carried out. These surgical methods are options to ensure drainage of the eye chamber fluid and regulate intraocular pressure when eye drops alone are not sufficient for treatment.

Macular Diseases

The macula is the point of sharpest vision on the retina and is also called the "yellow spot." One disease leading to blindness is age-related macular degeneration (AMD). In this case, vision is lost due to degenerative metabolic processes and circulatory disorders. The so-called dry AMD is common. The safe treatment of this form is complex so far, so early detection and prevention are becoming particularly relevant.

Wet AMD is less common but often connected to more severe consequences. The growth of blood vessels, hemorrhages, and scarring also play a role. Wet AMD is treated with injections directly into the eye (intravitreal injection), which involves injecting a VEGF inhibitor to limit blood vessel growth (VEGF is a growth factor promoting blood vessel formation).

Precise Vision Ophthalmologists offer this treatment alongside AMD screening tests such as OCT (optical coherence tomography) and in-depth consultations. In addition, research continues on wet AMD therapy to establish new, even better methods.
