Orthopedic surgeon Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Frosch specializes in knee surgery and is head physician at the ASKLEPIOS Klinik St. Georg Surgery and Trauma Centre in Hamburg. He and his experienced team specifically treat sports injuries of the knee joint. Prof. Frosch is also a proven specialist in the entire area of surgical knee joint therapy.
The Asklepios Klinik St. Georg in Hamburg has been existing since 1823. It one of the oldest hospitals in Hamburg. The clinic provides maximum care and is an academic teaching hospital of the University of Hamburg. St. Georg clinic treats approximately 34,000 inpatients and 58,000 outpatients annually. A clinical team of approximately 1,600 employees ensures patients' care at the highest medical standard within various disciplines.
In particular injuries such as rupture of the cruciate ligament or injury to the meniscus are operated arthroscopically whenever possible. This means, Prof Frosch applies minimal invasive techniques (keyhole surgery) with smallest skin incisions only. This surgical technique causes less pain for the patient and since the procedure is less invasive, patients recover more quickly and the risk of wound infection is reduced. Prof. Frosch also treats complex knee traumas and severe knee injuries in adults, children, and adolescents.
The Asklepios Klinik St. Georg has 20 departments, enabling close cooperation between the different medical disciplines. Prof. Frosch's team is thus able to make direct transitions from surgery to rehabilitation and physiotherapy. Thanks to a close cooperation with the institute of sports medicine and prevention, athletes are also able to recover quickly.
