About MOSER MEDICAL

MOSER MEDICAL has been specializing in hair surgery since 1979 and is a competence center for autologous hair transplantation and research in Austria.

The highly qualified specialists of the MOSER MEDICAL hair hospital help patients to solve their hair problems easily, safely, and permanently and perform transplantations of natural hair using the latest technology. The surgeons specializing in hair transplantation know what is essential: an optimal result looks natural. It represents a hair pattern that does not differ from natural hair growth in terms of hairline, aesthetics, and density. What is important is how many of the transplanted hairs grow. Moser Medical offers patients a growth guarantee of over 93% for all treatment techniques, such as the FUE and FUT.

Patients receive comprehensive, personal care from the initial contact, through expert consultation and qualified treatment, to the valued aftercare.

MOSER MEDICAL: Experienced Hair Specialists in Vienna (Austria)

With increasing age, many people's hair turns gray and thins out. In men, in particular, the sex hormone dihydrotestosterone shortens the growth period of the individual hair follicles, causing them to fall out more quickly. While mottled gray hair can be easily colored, androgenetic alopecia, i.e., conditional hair loss, is more challenging to treat. At MOSER MEDICAL, the experienced physicians Dr Markus Horacek and Dr Franz Veit and their 17-member medical team use the most modern methods to gently and permanently treat "receding hairline," bald patches on the top of the head or in the area of the tonsure.

Experts in Hair Transplantation Using the FUE/FUT Method

In principle, hair transplantation involves redistributing the patient's head hair, which is taken from a particular area at the back of the head and transplanted to where a fuller, denser hair is desired. The hairs from the donor area have the unique feature that they never fall out, as they are genetically programmed for lifelong growth. This principle is used in hair transplantation. The hair follicles are transplanted to the less dense or bald areas of the head, where they usually continue to grow for the rest of the patient's life and provide a fuller head of hair.

In principle, the necessary amount of the patient's hair can be harvested from the donor area at the back of the head using two procedures, which differ only in the harvesting technique. The implantation of the harvested hair follicles is precisely the same for both methods.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

The gentle extraction is performed from the previously shaved donor area using a microscopically small instrument, the HyRO extractor, whose tip, which is a fraction of a millimeter in diameter, oscillates at a high frequency, i.e., swings back and forth in a circle, like the head of an electric toothbrush.

This way, coherent units of 1-3 hair follicles together with tiny skin areas at the scalp's back can be triggered. As a result, only tiny circular scars remain, which are usually not visible. Finally, the bald scalp is prepared with tiny incisions to implant microscopically controlled hair follicles.

Long Hair Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE technique without shaving)

With this unique form of individual unit extraction, no shaving of the donor area is necessary - the hair length and hairstyle can thus be preserved. This is made possible by using the HyRo instrument in combination with the extraordinary experience of the hair surgeons and their team. They achieve a precise extraction even with a full head of hair at the back of the head. Therefore, this method is particularly suitable for wearers of longer hairstyles and, consequently, for women who wish to have the most discreet hair transplantation possible.

Strip Extraction (FUT Technique)

In this technique, a narrow, elliptical strip of skin is removed from the back of the head and then closed with a cosmetic suture. The remaining hair covers the filigree removal site, making it invisible. After removal, the contained hair follicles are kept in a particular nutrient solution and separated under microscopic control so they can be selectively placed in the skin area to be treated. This waiting time can be reduced to a minimum at MOSER MEDICAL by parallel division of work by up to fifteen medical specialists, so implantation of the removed hairs is possible in the same session.

The treatment is performed in an outpatient setting; even extensive treatments of up to 3,500 hair follicles can be finished in a single day.

Regardless of the chosen harvesting method, after each hair transplantation, it should be noted that the transplanted hair follicles temporarily fall out again. The long hair shaft is ejected after a short time, and new hair is formed after a resting period. Therefore, the final success of the therapy can be assessed only after 12 months. After this time, the hair will have grown entirely back, and the final result of the treatment will be visible and definitive.

Individual and State-of-the-Art Analysis for Hair Loss

In addition to androgenetic alopecia, in which the male sex hormone dihydrotestosterone is responsible for the bald scalp, there are various causes of hair loss - also in females. Among them are Thyroid and metabolic diseases, medication, oral contraceptives, hormone fluctuations, and psychological stress situations. MOSER MEDICAL analyzes each hair situation individually in the free initial medical consultation and shows the appropriate therapy options as countermeasures. The hair specialists of MOSER MEDICAL offer patients affected by hair loss a qualified hair analysis and a comprehensive range of treatment options. This consultation is available in seven major cities in Austria, such as Vienna, Graz, and Innsbruck. Trained specialists analyze the existing hair situation, provide non-binding information about possible treatment options, or refer to a dermatologist if necessary.

Specialized in Treating Hair Loss

Comprehensive knowledge of the fine-tissue structure and the physiological hair cycle is indispensable to treating hair loss effectively. All hairs in our body are subject to a periodic interplay of the long-lasting growth phase, short degeneration up to the loss, and new formation. Therefore, a certain amount (up to about 100 hairs per day) of daily hair loss is perfectly normal. MOSER MEDICAL invests considerably in researching the hair cycle, optimizing the harvesting methods, and developing unique products such as MOSER MEDICAL BioRegeneration, which stimulates the growth of hair follicles, or MOSER MEDICAL Storage Solution, which prepares the harvested hairs for implantation in the best possible way. Prim. Univ. Doz. Dr Walter Krugluger has dedicated himself to this field of research and heads the research sector at MOSER MEDICAL.

Highest Quality & Latest Technology in Micropigmentation (STP)

Suppose the suitability for hair transplantation is not yet or no longer given. In that case, MOSER MEDICAL also offers persons affected by hair loss other forms of therapy to regain a fuller, denser hair pattern. One of these treatment forms is STP (Scalp Tricho Pigmentation), or "hair tattooing." Like a tattoo, micropigmentation involves the introduction of color pigments under the skin to darken light or bald patches on the scalp and consequently make the hair pattern appear visually fuller. For this purpose, the specialists at MOSER MEDICAL use only the most modern shading techniques and high-quality pigments that are harmless to health.

In addition, outstanding unpigmented scar areas can be concealed by this procedure or, at the customer's request, the so-called "shaved look" can be achieved, in which the pigmentation is carried out in such a way that, as a result, the scalp appears as if the hair had been shaved short.

Autologous Blood Therapy to Activate Hair Growth

In the case of beginning hair loss, minimally invasive plasma therapy (autologous blood therapy) can be used to delay hair loss and reactivate hair growth. In this process, platelet-rich plasma is extracted from the patient's blood and injected in tiny depots into the scalp and the areas affected by hair loss. This preventive form of therapy strengthens the existing hair and activates the existing, dormant hair roots - the hair begins to grow again.

Extras

In addition to the unique experience and decades of expertise in the field of autologous hair transplantation, the personal service in a family atmosphere is exceptional at the Moser Medical Private Hospital. Therefore, the stay in Vienna for patients feels more like a wellness treatment than a medical procedure.

Personal care begins with a detailed initial consultation, where 1 hour is taken for the concerns of the prospective patient.

Suppose the decision falls on autologous hair transplantation. In that case, each patient is already accompanied some weeks before the hair transplantation by telephone to prepare them in the best possible way for the treatment and to arrange the stay as pleasant as possible.

Of course, this premium service also includes the organization of accommodation, answering any questions, and tips on how to best prepare for the treatment.

On the day of treatment, each patient is personally attended to by his surgeon and his team of assistants and is looked after in the best possible way by the service team. In addition, the founder and owner of the hospital, Karl Moser, is also present at the clinic every day and personally attends to the needs of the patients.

Information About Vienna

Specialist doctors and medical centres in Vienna

The Austrian capital is located in the east of the country at the junction of the eastern Alpine foothills and the Pannonian Plain. Its namesake is the small river Wien, but the city is associated with the much larger Danube River that also flows by the city. Vienna is divided into so-called districts, so the old town is also the Inner District, around which the other 22 districts are arranged concentrically. In 2001 the historic city centre was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
