About The ProstataZentrum NordWest – Prostate Experts in NRW
The ProstataZentrum NordWest (PZNW) at the St. Antonius Hospital in Gronau which is certified by the German Cancer Society (DKG) is one of the most powerful prostate specialist centers in Europe. Patients from all over the world opt for treatment with an expert team led by PrivateLecturer Dr Jörn H. Witt, founder and head of the PZNW as well as Chief Physician of the Clinic for Urology, Paediatric Urology and Urological Oncology at the St. Antonius Hospital.
At the Cutting Edge of Medicine
At the PZNW, state-of-the-art therapy and diagnostic methods are used. The team is regularly active at international congresses and conferences, cooperating with domestic and foreign clinics and research centers. For many years, “Gronau” has been a familiar term in the urological world.
Certified Prostate Cancer Center in NRW
The medical specialists in urology are proven experts in prostate diseases – from prostate inflammation to benign enlarged prostate and prostate carcinoma.
After a detailed anamnesis, diagnosis, and consultation of a patient, the optimal treatment method is elaborated individually. An experienced team of doctors treats patients according to latest medical standards. At the same time, the patient concierges and patient managers attend to the patient’s personal needs.
Specialists in Diagnosis and Treatment of Prostate Cancer
The main focus of the certified prostate cancer center in Gronau is the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. Prostate carcinoma is the most common tumour disease in men. Because changes in the prostate gland can be treated well if diagnosed in at an early stage, affected individuals should not hesitate contacting an urologist immediately if they suffer from symptoms. Modern diagnostic procedures and diverse treatment methods are available in the PZNW.
The Da Vinci® Operating System – High-Tech Support at the Operating Theatre
The robot-assisted, minimally invasive surgical procedure is in the PZNW’s gold standard for radical prostatectomy (RARP) (i.e. the complete removal of the prostate) because it offers numerous advantages over conventional surgical methods.
Thanks to modern technology, robot-assisted surgery is possible with a precision that cannot be achieved with any other surgical method. The robot has a three-dimensional and many times larger view of the operating area. Completely trembling-free, the instrument’s tips can be moved in all directions with very small incisions (i.e. minimally invasive), allowing the surgeon a relaxed posture during the surgery and therefore providing an unparalleled precision. The overall strain on a patient is significantly minimized due to changed conditions as less blood loss, significantly reduced rates of complications, and less pain after the process. The end result: scarcely visible scars, faster recovery, and a shorter hospital stay. Thanks to the rapid convalescence, patients can return normal everyday life quickly.
Experience in More than 17,000 Robot-Assisted Prostate Cancer Surgeries
Thanks to the exceptional precision achieved by the experienced surgeons applying the robot-assisted surgical technique, a patient’s nerves and tissue structures crucial for continence and potency can often be preserved.
The ProstataZentrum NordWest can reference to a wealth of experience from over 20,000 robot-assisted surgeries – including more than 17,000 prostate cancer operations – and the latest da Vinci® surgical techniques in four in-house operating theatres. This makes the PZNW one of the largest and most renowned centers for robot-assisted surgery in the world.
In other complex interventions such as partial kidney removal or urinary bladder replacement surgery, the high-tech surgical method applied by the Gronau team of experts is successful as well.
In-House Education and Training center
Because of its pioneering role in robot-assisted prostate surgery, the PZNW is in high demand - both nationally and internationally – as a partner for scientific congresses as well as further and continuing studies for surgeons and nursing staff. The clinic runs its own education and training center including the Training Centre at the European Robotic Institute (ERI). It offers specialized training courses in the field of robot-assisted and laparoscopic surgery.
Special Services Beyond Standard
The specialized prostate center also takes innovative approaches in the area of patient care, reaching standards far beyond usual. The holistic therapy concept includes comprehensive care with a high level of comfort. For example, patient concierges and patient managers support patients with all formalities as well as the coordination of appointments. This ensures complete documentation and smooth implementation of therapies.
In addition, optional accommodation services such as single or double rooms, special meals, and hotel service are provided to make the hospital stay in Gronau as pleasant as possible.
