Wellness Treatment – The Loft
The highest quality standards are a matter of course for Precise Vision Ophthalmologists. To make the visit or surgery as pleasant as possible for patients, the "loft" was recently opened. An exclusive place where self-payers and privately insured patients are advised, cared for, and treated. The premises in the penthouse of the ophthalmology outpatient clinic Rheine are stylishly and comfortably furnished and invite you to linger. The friendly atmosphere in pleasant surroundings conveys a feeling of security and relaxation and makes patients feel at home.
In addition to drinks and snacks, various entertainment media are also available. The PlayStation, in particular, is very popular with young and old. The kitchen and bar provide a family atmosphere, as does the large roof terrace.
But it's not just the reception and lounge areas in the loft that is inviting. The examination rooms of Dr Kretz and his team of experienced specialists also provide a pleasant atmosphere for discussions. Of course, the latest technology is also available for examinations and treatments in the loft to perform procedures such as cataract surgery and the correction of a visual defect as gently, precisely, and safely as possible. So, when patients come in for a follow-up after a procedure, the loft has already become a familiar environment for many. They feel at home and look forward to talking to the doctors. And that is precisely what the loft is meant to be: A pleasant and friendly place where patients feel welcome and at home.
Eyesight Without Glasses – Modern Eye Laser Center
Various refractive errors, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness, and astigmatism or presbyopia can be corrected surgically under certain circumstances. This refractive surgery can free the patient from glasses or contact lenses. In addition, laser surgery is often performed on the eyes to correct the visual defect, and the insertion of artificial lenses into the eye is also possible.
The procedures are usually performed under local anesthesia. With the help of a laser, the corneal structure can be altered so that the refractive power of the visual system is restored to an average, healthy level. The replacement or additional insertion of lenses into the eye also allows for the alteration of vision when laser treatment is not indicated. Particular emphasis is placed on comprehensive preliminary examinations to uncover individual characteristics or underlying diseases. This is done with the most modern equipment.
Safe Solutions for Cataracts
A cataract is caused by the clouding of the lens in the eye, usually due to age. Consequently, vision becomes blurred, everything appears blurred. The final stage of cataracts can be blindness if not or inadequately treated. Precise Vision Ophthalmologists offer surgical treatment of the disease, on the one hand with the help of a femtosecond laser or on the other hand with the so-called micropulse procedure. The diseased cloudy lens is crushed, removed, and replaced with a new artificial lens. Ophthalmologists are specialists in cataract surgery. The procedures are considered safe and established. Particular emphasis is placed on detailed preliminary discussions, consultations, and preliminary examinations.
State-of-the-Art Glaucoma Prevention and Therapy
Glaucoma is caused by increased intraocular pressure, which can damage the optic nerve and increasingly restrict the field of vision. At Precise Vision Ophthalmologists, intraocular pressure measurement is standard and does not represent a chargeable individual health service. If there are any abnormalities, modern examination equipment is available for further diagnostics. In addition to treatment with eye drops, modern surgical methods such as selective laser trabeculoplasty, trabeculotomy, and the insertion of a trabecular stent are performed to normalize the flow of intraocular fluid and consequently the intraocular pressure.
Retinal surgery is considered a therapeutic measure for various ophthalmological diseases. Among others, this is the case for retinal detachment or retinal tears. The retina can be reattached by, for example, the surgical application of plugs, cryo treatments, or laser treatments. Furthermore, diabetic retinopathy, which still causes blindness in diabetics, can be treated by retinal surgery, and therefore stopped in its progression. Again, a laser is often used here.
In the case of vascular diseases or occlusions, lasers can also be used as a therapeutic measure in addition to drug treatments. Under certain circumstances, more complex surgery is also carried out to increase blood flow to the optic nerve (radial optic neurotomy). In addition, diseases of the macula, the point of sharpest vision in the eye, can be treated with retinal surgery. Removing the vitreous body, vitrectomy plays a significant role here and is also a therapeutic option for numerous other eye diseases.
Inflammation of the vascular membrane (uvea) of the eye is often caused by autoimmune diseases and pathogens such as viruses or bacteria. The exact localization of uveitis in the eye can be examined with the help of a slit lamp. Treatment is usually initiated with medication, depending on the underlying cause of the disease. Cortisone products should be mentioned here, along with other anti-inflammatory drugs.
Often the pupil is dilated by drops to prevent adhesions and thus impaired visual function. Antibiotics or immunosuppressants may also be used. The medications can be given as an ointment or drops into the eye, injected directly, or taken as a tablet. Implants that deliver medications are also inserted. Complications of uveitis can be treated surgically, such as a cataract through surgical lens replacement.

Information About Rheine
As early as 838, our city on the Ems was mentioned in the deed of donation and is proud of this long history. However, Rheine not only looks back to its roots but also looks to Europe and the world - not least because diverse cultures live here.
