About Precise Vision in Erlangen – Precision for your eyes
Under the motto "precision for your eyes", Dr Florian Kretz (FEBO) and Dr Klaus Haas lead the Erlangen Centre Eye Practice.
Dr Kretz is an internationally recognised expert in refractive and cataract surgery, while Dr Haas is a renowned surgeon in the field of reconstructive and aesthetic eyelid surgery. The two experienced surgeons are surrounded by a team of international and multilingual experts who cover the entire spectrum of ophthalmic treatments thanks to their specialisation in various sub-disciplines of ophthalmology.
Eye Specialists in Erlangen – State-of-the-Art Treatment Methods and Great Expertise
The Precise Vision Ophthalmologists in Erlangen solely work with state-of-the-art equipment and innovative technology. They also rely on diversity and have various different femtosecond lasers in order to be able to treat specific courses of diseases individually. In addition to modern equipment and latest treatment methods, the focus is, of course, placed on patients. The ophthalmologists attach great importance to giving detailed advice and transparently outlining the entire course of treatment. They always incorporate the wishes and individual needs of their patients into the process. To them, this is the only approach to achieve best possible results from treatments.
Experts for Eye Lasers and Intraocular Lenses – Seeing Without Glasses
The latest and diverse treatment methods in refractive surgery are trademarks of eye specialists. They use different femtosecond lasers in order to be capable to treat specific progresses of diseases individually.
Precise Vision Ophthalmologists cure vision defects as nearsightedness, farsightedness, presbyopia or astigmatism with refractive surgery in most modern operating theatres and with latest technologies. Through the application of innovative laser technology, the surface of the cornea is altered and reshaped so the overall refractive power of the eye changes as desired. With this treatment, the eye is able to compensate for the existing visual affliction.
Surgical treatment options with lenses include trifocal IOLs, implantable contact lenses, and piggyback intraocular lenses.
Eye Cataracts – Cataract Treatment With the Femtosecond Laser
After ascertaining the indication and providing in-depth advice regarding a cataract treatment, the Precise Vision Ophthalmologists offer two surgical methods. Treatment with a femtosecond laser is a very precise and gentle medical option. The MicroPulse method on the other hand, is also a very modern and safe approach.
The Precise Vision Ophthalmologists place particular attention to providing detailed advice on the surgical procedure and the choice of lenses prior to a cataract surgery. For example, special lenses can be used to correct existing presbyopia or astigmatism. Modern lenses last a lifetime and patients don't have to worry about any rejective reactions.
Glaucoma
The arly detection of a glaucoma is particularly important to prevent the patient from turning blind. Glaucoma is irreversible, damages the optic nerve, and is characterised by an increased intraocular pressure. The Precise Vision Ophthalmologists in Erlangen treat glaucoma with medication or surgery. The specialists either laser the affected eye or insert a stent, thereby permanently lowering the intraocular pressure. Glaucoma surgery can be combined with cataract surgery, in other words, only one procedure is necessary.
AMD – Age-Related Macular Degeneration
The clinical picture of macular degeneration is characterised by severe visual impairment occuring around the age of 50. There are both, a wet and a dry variant of AMD involving a painless breakdown of sensory cells.
Age-related metabolic processes destroy the point of sharpest vision, the so-called macula. Both forms of AMD must be diagnosed and treated early to prevent blindness. The medical specialists at Precise Vision Ophthalmologists rely on the injection of drugs into the vitreous humour to stop AMD and to stabilise eyesight. Refined or early diagnostics, a combination of therapies, and new drug treatments can be used to save a patient's eyesight, depending on the progression of the disease.
Eyelid Surgery in Erlangen – Medicine and Aesthetics
Dr Haas specialises in the correction of age-related and disease-induced malpositions of the eyelids (ectropion, entropion, ptosis), as well as aesthetic eyelid operations. He has already performed more than 5000 corrections of hooded (blepharochalasis) and drooping eyelids (blepharoptosis). Lid operations can be implemented at Precise Vision Ophthalmologists on an outpatient or inpatient basis. The healing phase takes about two weeks; stitches are removed after one week.
Dry Eyes – Tixel Treatment
Many patients suffer from dry eyes. This is a chronic disease. Symptoms are often treated with eye drops. The cause of dry eyes often lies in the composition of the tear film. With Tear Lab, the Precise Vision Ophthalmologists can quickly and precisely measure the composition of tear film. Increased osmolarity indicates a dysfunction of the meibomian glands. If this is the cause of dry eyes, Tixel treatment is an option. During the Tixel method, the ophthalmologist is applying impulses to the edges of the eyelids. Repeating this approach several times ensures restoration of the function of the meibomian glands. This in return ultimately optimises the composition of the tear film, turning dry eyes into an issue of the past.
Likewise, the eye specialists in Erlangen treat all other common eye diseases. With a school of vision, the specialists at Precise Vision Ophthalmologists detect visual impairments in early childhood and are able to initiate therapies suited for children.
