About Kliniken Schmieder Allensbach - Specialized Clinic for Neurology and Neurological Rehabilitation

As a specialized clinic for neurological rehabilitation, the Kliniken Schmieder Allensbach provide care for patients with central and peripheral nervous systems diseases.

According to the principle "Never give up!", patients are cared for in all phases of neurological rehabilitation from a single source, which benefits the success of treatment and the patients.

Neurological Rehabilitation Clinic at Lake Constance

The specialists for neurological rehabilitation at the Kliniken Schmieder in Allensbach care for patients with all kinds of neurological diseases at the highest level at Lake Constance. The motivated team of doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychotherapists, and other specialists treat patients individually and personally.

Harmonious cooperation between all disciplines, specialist staff and patients, and mutual respect play a significant role. Working close to the patient and transparent treatment procedures are part of the hospital's daily routine. In addition, work is carried out on the constant further development of internal and scientific structures. Current and the most modern scientific standards and studies are incorporated into the therapy concepts.

Another essential component of treatment is the assessment explicitly developed by the Kliniken Schmieder. The tests and measurement procedures cover all treatment areas. They are carried out at the beginning and end of each rehabilitation measure, making the rehabilitation results presentable and the successes measurable. For example, while only 19% of patients could walk independently on admission, this figure had already risen to 49% when they were discharged from NRPM.

The Hospital's Principle "Never give up!"

The hospital's principle "Never give up!" is intended to encourage patients to believe in themselves even in difficult and seemingly hopeless moments and not lose sight of their goal. Neurological diseases often have complex impairments accompanied by a prolonged recovery process.

The often-difficult path of the patients requires a lot of endurance and endurance, especially in moments that do not initially show the expected improvement. In these times, the rehabilitative therapy concept and the psychological care at the Kliniken Schmieder give the patients the strength to hold on to their desire for recovery. In small steps, work is done to reintegrate the patients into society and help them learn to be independent again.

Five-Phase Rehabilitation Concept

The five-phase rehabilitation concept is used at the Kliniken Schmieder to implement rehabilitation. The therapy concept includes several phases, classified from A to E. Phase A refers to acute treatment directly following a spontaneous neurological incident or an accident with neurological consequences. At this point, the patient is in the intensive care unit, and the first step is to stabilize the patient's vital signs.

Early Rehabilitation (NRPI/NRPS)

NRPI/NRPS involves implementing early rehabilitation in patients who are often still dependent on intensive medical measures and show severe impairments. It is important to start as early as possible with the first possible rehabilitation steps to improve later. Intensive interdisciplinary cooperation is essential in this phase to ensure that patients receive appropriate care.

Early Mobilization (NRPM)

In the third rehabilitation phase, patients are already medically stable and can actively participate in rehabilitation. The aim is to support the patient's activities of daily living jointly and to be able to reduce the frequently still immense need for nursing care gradually. Each therapy is individually adapted to the patient and their possibilities.

Neurocognitive Specialized Ward

Patient's suffering from brain damage of any kind is cared for and treated in the specialized neurocognitive ward. These include, for example, strokes, accidents involving craniocerebral trauma, tumors, and neurodegenerative diseases of the brain. Neurocognitive treatment is designed to enhance patients' cognitive abilities and facilitate the relearning of everyday skills and independence. In particular, deficits in memory and orientation are identified with the patient and improved through concrete practice. Each patient's already existing, or still, preserved abilities are worked out and specifically encouraged. In addition, patients are accompanied in accepting and processing their illness.

Parkinson's Rehabilitation

Parkinson's disease is a progressive degenerative disease of the brain, accompanied by movement restrictions and psychological aspects. The Kliniken Schmieder offer a comprehensive clarification of the clinical picture and enables patients' personal and interdisciplinary treatment. The multifaceted disease often involves great challenges for the patient and relatives. For this reason, a team of physicians, physiotherapists, speech therapists, and also social psychologists work together to implement a treatment tailored to the patient.

The first step is to review and adjust the Parkinson's drug therapy and create a personalized concept for the patient. Next, the care includes physiotherapy treatments, cognitive therapy, and psychological counseling. In addition, coordination therapy, writing training, and home therapy are offered. Finally, swallowing and voice training is provided in collaboration with speech therapists. Typically, an inpatient stay of about two to three weeks is planned.

Clarification and Treatment of Epilepsies

The Kliniken Schmieder offer special inpatient treatment for patients with epileptic disorders. The therapy covers all essential aspects of the clinical picture. In addition, it provides patients with a personal concept for learning to cope with their disease and minimizing the impairment of their social life.

Patients receive medication adjustment and optimization of their epilepsy medication and information about other possible therapy methods in inpatient settings. In addition, patients receive support from social services, psychotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists. Furthermore, driving fitness examinations can be carried out, and the standard procedure of video monitoring used for epilepsy is carried out. In this way, the best possible treatment concept can be made possible for the patients.
