Comprehensive Medical Care for Your Pregnancy and Delivery - Even in Risk Cases!
Perinatal medicine or fetomaternal medicine is Prof. Dr. Breymann's unique field. In this area of gynecology, he engages in patients before, during, and after pregnancy. In his practice, he advises patients who wish to have children on the best possible preparation for an upcoming pregnancy, e.g., with the support of vitamins, nutrients, or minerals.
For many women, a child is an essential part of a happy life. Unfortunately, a long-cherished desire for a child is not always fulfilled, which is where modern reproductive medicine with procedures such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) can significantly increase the chance of pregnancy. Sometimes a surgical intervention on the fallopian tubes or uterus can also correct the woman's infertility.
In the course of pregnancy, whether uncomplicated or high-risk pregnancy, Prof. Dr. Breymann provides his patients with the most up-to-date scientific care and advice in the spirit of the Zurich Obstetrics Department. On request, Prof. Dr. Breymann will carry out all necessary examinations himself. He can make use of the latest technology in the Zurich Obstetrics Department, for example, a high-end ultrasound machine with 3D and 4D imaging. If the child is favorably positioned, you can see the unborn child from every side in ultrasound.
All necessary examinations (e.g., ultrasound examinations, amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, genetic tests) can be carried out by him. If you wish, you can already observe your unborn child during pregnancy with a 3D or 4D ultrasound, a good position of the child provided. If you have specific questions regarding pregnancy and birth, e.g., diabetes (sugar disease), coagulation disorders, or complications in previous pregnancies, we will be happy to advise you comprehensively.
Amniotic Fluid Examination (Amniocentesis)
Amniocentesis provides information about possible alterations in the fetus' genetic material or even hereditary diseases that have been passed on to the embryo. By analyzing the genetic material and the amniotic fluid obtained, trisomy 21 (Down's syndrome) and an open back (spina bifida) can also be detected. Of course, Prof. Dr. Breymann will also advise you in case of possible malformations or developmental disorders of the fetus.
Chorionic Villus Sampling
Another examination method of prenatal diagnostics is the chorionic villus sampling, in which a small sample is taken from the placenta between the 10th and 12th weeks of pregnancy. It provides information about the presence of genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis or hemophilia in the unborn child.
For more than two decades, Prof. Dr. Breymann has been provided medical care for births and, if medically necessary or desired, also carried out cesarean sections (in the NESA technique, "gentle cesarean section") himself. Prof. Dr. Christian Breymann is the right partner for you, especially for high-risk pregnancies or births, as well as for riskier obstetric surgeries. Personal care, in which the patient is the center of attention, is always of utmost importance to the specialists. In an ordinary course of pregnancy, the birth can also be guided by a midwife.
Specialist for Women With Iron Deficiency
Prof. Dr. Breymann is a designated specialist in the field of iron deficiency in women. He was significantly involved in the development of treatment guidelines (in Switzerland and internationally) for iron deficiency in women.
